Usually I have a question that needs to be answered, such as can I find a way of taking blood samples, suitable for measuring the amount of drug in the blood, without sticking a needle into your arm. I then think up lots of ideas, almost the sillier the better. I then decide which one looks as though it might work. Then plan an experiment to test if my idea was right. The results of the experiment then tell me if I was correct. Usually I don’t get the answer I was expecting, but that answer help me design the next experiment. So I go round and round in loops of planning, doing experiment and seeing what they mean. Do I get irritated, no, but I do some times get frustrated when I cant think what the next experiment should be.
