Hmm. I don’t remember not being interested in science! My parents, and particularly my dad, encouraged me to ask questions about everything and I’ve just kept on asking. I like knowing where electricity comes from and why my breath condenses on a cold day. And then during 6th form I realised that I didn’t just have to look at the world around me, but I could do experiments to change what I was looking at. For instance we took ethanol (alcohol) and did a simple bit of chemistry and first changed it into ethanal (smells like pear drop sweets) and then turned it into acetic acid (vinegar). Having that sort of control seemed very clever to me and I wanted to design my own experiments. And from there its just gone on!

16 or 17 I guess. I was more into languages in the beginning.
