Hi teenehh, for most of my experiments I need a fresh blood sample from a fasted person. But you cannot mix blood in a tube so I usually have a volunteer giving some blood, just like at a blood donation (http://www.scotblood.co.uk/), but much less. Then I can do my tests on how platelets respond to a certain compound.
The tricky thing is to find someone who is willing to give blood as not everyone like being stabbed with a needle. Long story short: I have to organise a lot and coordinate several people to get the blood sample.
Its that light bulb moment.
Now I understand all these vampire references. I must admit I am partial to a bit of fresh blood too. Those blood spots that I am so partial too require it. However I do prefer it cold from the fridge rather than warm and pulsing from the vampire unit.
That and holiday in Transylvania, what’s happening to me?
