Perhaps because to them (though not to all by the sounds of things) it’s as tasty and nutritious as fresh fish. Since we humans started cooking our food, our tolerance for eating bacteria has gone down. However, since animals don’t cook their food, they’ve maintained their natural ability to deal with food bacteria.
